Welcome Letter

We are looking forward to having you join the UND Music Department this fall as a new music major. We are pleased to welcome you to the region's most comprehensive music department, with exciting and diverse offerings in a friendly and personal atmosphere among professors and students. Please find below important information that you will need to know.

All new music majors are required to attend our New Music Major Orientation Day, in the Hughes Fine Arts Center (HFAC).

All incoming music majors should initially enroll in MUSC 130 Diatonic Harmony and MUSC 131 Aural Skills I. A placement examination will be given in the first class meeting to test incoming students' knowledge of music fundamentals. See below for information about the Music Theory Placement Exam.

Auditions for all music ensembles are held during the first week of classes. Students may sign up for audition times during Orientation Day. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
