UND Internal Funding Sources

Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Funding – From UND Division of Research Awards to faculty in Arts, Humanities and Social Work. Approximately $50,000 is awarded annually. This is a new program. Intercollegiate Academics Fund Request – Funding from the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost. To promote and support intercollegiate academic experiences for UND students and groups. Awards can be used to partially fund activity pertaining to student group travel to conferences, performances, etc.

Office of Instructional Development (OID)
1. FIDC Grants – For teaching-related travel, purchase of instructional materials and software, minor equipment, meeting expenses (including refreshments), and outside speaker/consultant fees. Applications are due by noon on the 15th of each month. Maximum award $1,000.   www.und.edu/dept/oid/funding_fidc_travel.htm

2. Flexible Grants – For projects that do not fit FIDC guidelines. Maximum award $1,000. To discuss projects that might qualify, contact OID.

3. Mini-Project Grants – To support faculty working on teaching/assessment projects that can be completed in 1-2 weeks during winter or summer break. www.und.edu/dept/oid/funding.htm

4. Summer Instructional Development Professorships – To faculty working on innovative instructional projects. Allows faculty to work full-time on the project for four weeks during the summer. Provides a stipend of $3,000. www.und.edu/dept/oid/funding_sidp.htm

5. Developmental Leave Supplements – Support for faculty doing teaching-related leave projects. Should be submitted after leave is approved. Contact OID.

Research, Development and Compliance (RDC, formerly ORPD)

1. Faculty Publication Grant – To assist in paying publication costs for articles, scholarly books or research monographs. www.und.edu/dept/orpd/SSACFacPubGrant.htm

2. Faculty Travel Grant – Travel that will enhance a faculty member’s research or creative abilities is eligible. www.und.edu/dept/orpd/SSACFacTravelGrant.htm

3. New Faculty Scholarship Award – Provides extra support to Research and Creative Activity of assistant professors who have completed less than three years at UND. Up to three awards of $5,000 each will be made per year.  www.und.edu/dept/orpd/SSACNewFacultyScholar.htm

4. Research/Creative Activity Grant – Provides funding to encourage research and creative activity at the University. Maximum award $2,500. www.und.edu/dept/orpd/SSACResCreativeGrant.htm

5. Research Seed Money – Provides funding to projects that make a significant contribution to a field. Recipients are expected to submit grant applications for external funding following their seed money projects. www.und.edu/dept/research/html/seedmoney.htm

Student Technology Fee Grant – Proposals are accepted two times per academic year. Funding is awarded to projects that develop/update labs, and purchase computer-related and classroom presentation equipment that benefits the students and has an impact on curriculum and/or research.
