Support the Pride

The University of North Dakota "Pride of the North" plays an important role in the excitement of Sioux athletics, the vitality of the UND campus, and the pride of North Dakota alumni and fans across the state and throughout the country.

The Band has thrilled people of all ages with its performances and its dynamic sound. Whether the Band is performing at a football game, alumni event, hockey or basketball game, the Band truly expresses the Spirit of UND. Over the years, the Pride Band has given pleasure to thousands of people. Now you can give something back to the Band through the Pride of UND Campaign.

The goal of the campaign is to build an endowment to provide a permanent source of income to meet the needs of the Band, now and in the future, to keep it the "Pride of the North."

Most people are surprised to learn the University of North Dakota only provides minimal funding for the Pride Band. Expenses for such critical things such as travel and scholarships, are not a part of the Band's annual budget.

However, the lack of institutional dollars is understandable.

Our current Director, Robert Brooks, is a professor in the School of Music. Thus, the Band program is technically a part of the School of Music, which must direct its own limited resources to programs for music majors, however very few Pride Band members are music majors.

This is what prompted the Pride of UND campaign committee, to say "The Band belongs to everyone, yet to no one." And that is the reason the Band endowment fund-raising effort has begun.

The Pride of UND campaign makes it possible for everyone who appreciates and enjoys the North Dakota Band to become involved in supporting it. This way the Band "belongs" to its biggest fans.

Contributions are helping to meet current needs and will assure the Band's future. Private support has a real impact on the growth of size, performance quality, showmanship, and energy level. Please show your support for the "Pride of the North" Marching Band by joining the many friends and fans who have already made a gift to support this important program through the University of North Dakota Alumni Foundation (donors are mailed a receipt for their tax-deductible gift).
