Hockey Band


The Pride of the North Hockey Band is an ensemble composed of members of the Pride of the North Marching band that plays for selected home hockey games. Membership in the Marching Band is required to be in the hockey band, although hockey band membership is not required.

Because our hockey team is a perennial powerhouse in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, the opportunity to travel to play for the hockey team is available nearly every year.

To be eligible to travel, one must follow the guidelines below:
(Option = number of games you are allowed to sign up for)

Seniors - Option of 19 games (100%), must be at 13 (70%) plus all rehearsals.
Juniors - Option of 17 games (90%), must be at 14 (80%) plus all rehearsals.
Sophomores - Option of 15 games (80%), must be at 14 (90%) plus all rehearsals.
Freshmen - Option of 13 games (70%), must be at 13 (100%) plus all rehearsals.

The signup will be available the week of a game and open until 12:00pm on Friday. If there are spaces available you can sign up, first come - first serve. These games will be counted towards your attendance.

If a person needs to pick up an extra game, they can possibly do so at the First Round games in the beginning of March if they are in Grand Forks.

The trip list will be chosen by the following criteria:
1. Eligibility
2. Instrumentation
3. Seniority - (Years in band)
4. Play off of music

In addition, our Hockey Band uniform will be blue jeans and a Hockey Band jersey, which may be purchased through a mass band order in the fall. Once you have purchased your jersey, you will be able to use it every year that you are in the Hockey Band without needing to purchase another jersey each year.
