The University of North Dakota Jazz Ensemble will present “In Full Swing” at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, in the Memorial Union Ballroom. The concert will be a celebration of the Big Band era of the 1930s and 1940s, and will feature music by the most popular bands of the time, including Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, and Tommy Dorsey. An authentic, cabaret-style atmosphere will be created, with a bandstand, dance floor, tables, and ballroom lighting. The “UND 12:00 Jazz Ensemble” is an award-winning group that has been very successful in recent years. In 2008, the ensemble received a superior rating – the highest given – at the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival. The ensemble presents an average of 6 concerts each year, from featured events with national and international guest artists to in school concerts and presentations.
