MuSoUND
Membership
Any music major, minor, or member of a performing ensemble is eligible to be a member of MuSoUND. Members will be expected to participate in various committees and fundraising events in order to be eligible for the benefits that MuSoUND offers.
Committees
- Events Committee: Responsible for organizing social events, planning and booking guest speakers.
- Public Relations Committee: Producing press releases and contacting media about departmental events, organizing and operating the referral service.
- Member Services Committee: Organizing tutoring program, mentorship program, and recital services, bulk music purchases.
- Newsletter: Producing and distributing a monthly MuSoUND Newsletter.
Committee Representatives and Executive Council will normally meet weekly.
Meetings
General meetings for all members occur three times a year with the possibility of additional meetings if needed. Meetings will be held in September, January, and April. Officers for the next school year will be elected in April.
Registration
Registration will take place the first week of school and at the music orientation meetings. You must register to be a member of MuSoUND!
Member Services
- Referral Service-MuSoUND will construct a list of its members who wish to provide musical services to the community, such as teaching lessons, performing at weddings, etc. When the public inquires about these services, the music office will give out names and phone numbers of MuSoUND members.
- Mentorship Program-Upperclass members of MuSoUND will be assigned one or more freshman members and will act as mentors for them, answering questions and helping them adjust to life as a music student!
- Tutoring Services-Upperclass members may volunteer to tutor other members in music courses. Tutors must receive approval from the faculty member teaching the course. A list of available tutors will be posted for MuSoUND members.
- Guest Speakers-MuSoUND will bring in guest speakers or artists. Members will have input as to what type of guest they would likei to have.
- Social Events-There will be two social events planned per semester. Some ideas include: swing dance workshop/dance, sports at YMCA, laser tag, graduation banquet, etc.
- Media Liaison-MuSoUND will act as a liaison between the Music Department and the local news media.
