Robert Brooks is Associate Director of Bands at the University of North Dakota.  He has served on the faculty of the University of North Dakota for the past eleven years where he is the founder and Director of the "Pride of the North" Athletic Bands.  Professor Brooks earned his Master of Music in Conducting from New Mexico State University and he holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Oklahoma. 

The Pride bands of UND include the Pride of the North Marching Band, Men’s Hockey Band, Women’s Hockey Band, and the Sioux Crew Basketball Band.  With over eighty performances a year and over six hundred performances since their inception, these ensembles have performed at fifteen Division I and Division II NCAA National Championship tournaments, seventeen regional tournaments, and fourteen division tournaments across the country the past eleven years.   In 2007, the NCAA Coaches Association voted the UND Basketball Band to be the best in the nation for Division II Athletics.

Along with frequent guest conducting of the University’s Wind Ensemble and University Band, Professor Brooks is also the conductor of the One o’clock Jazz Ensemble.  In 2005, Robert was a featured soloist with the UND Jazz band at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux Switzerland.  Robert  also teaches courses in Marching Band Techniques and gives private lessons in arranging, trumpet, music and video recording and production, and bass.  Prior to coming to UND, Robert was a high school and middle school music educator in Texas.  In addition to his teaching duties at UND, Professor Brooks  maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor, performer, clinician, judge and arranger for bands throughout the upper Midwest.
