David Henrickson is Staff Accompanist with the Department of Music at the University of North Dakota where his duties include accompanying the Concert Choir, Varsity Bards and Allegro in addition to accompanying voice and instrumental students. Active as a collaborative pianist and voice coach, he performs in recitals throughout the U.S., collaborating with such singers as Korliss Uecker and Tammy Hensrud, both former artists with the Metropolitan Opera in New York. For over 15 years, David has been staff accompanist for the North Dakota District Metropolitan Opera Auditions and has coached several National Finalists including UND Alumnus Maria Williams-Kennedy. In 1992, he was staff accompanist for the Summer Vocal Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara under the direction of Elizabeth Mannion. Active as an Opera Coach, David has been on the musical staff for several opera companies, including four seasons with Sacramento Opera and six seasons with Western Plains Opera. He is also very active in Musical Theatre, and has been Musical and Vocal Director for several professional and amateur companies including Crimson Creek Players and Straw Hat Players at Minnesota State University, Moorhead. David is a staff member with the Summer Performing Arts program in Grand Forks, where he has taught voice, coached and accompanied singers and co-directed the Opera Workshop and Honors Review. As an undergraduate, he studied voice at Moorhead State University with the Spanish tenor, Ricardo Visus. David has performed as vocal soloist with the Grand Forks Master Chorale in performances of Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s Magnificat and with the Greater Grand Forks Symphony in a performance of Schubert’s Mass in G. David holds a BA Degree from Minot State University and has received an Artist Diploma from the 1st Curso Internacional de Interpretación de Música Española in Madrid, Spain. David is also a member of Pi Kappa Lambda. Currently, he is completing a Master of Arts Degree in Vocal Performance from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
